Robert H. Blair was born and raised in California. He first attended the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles from 1960 to 1962, while also working for the Los Angeles Examiner in the art department. This job was the beginning of his professional art career in the commercial field.
After leaving the Los Angeles Examiner, Robert entered the Aerospace Industry through work in the art department at Aerojet-General Corporation. He attended the Art Center in Los Angeles from 1963 to 1966 where he developed his first work in the fine arts field.
After moving to New Mexico in 1988, Robert taught oil painting classes at San Juan College in Farmington. He understands now what the early artists saw in New Mexico, with the blazing blue skies and magical light. His work is a reflection of the landscapes that surround him.
Robert's art can be found in private and university collections all over the world. Artist Robert H. Blair died March 8, 2016, in Paris, Texas. He was 78. Blair is survived by his wife Billie Blair of Paris, Texas; daughter Melissa Blair of Herald; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
